Elon Musk has lashed out after a Pentagon official called the ultimatum email he sent out to federal workers over the weekend, asking them to justify their roles or risk losing them, the “silliest thing in 40 years.

The deadline has passed for federal employees to respond to Elon Musk’s request that they outline their accomplishments at work last week or be fired, but it appears no workers will face any consequences for not responding—for now,

"Subject to the discretion of the President, they will be given another chance," Elon Musk said of federal workers who did not send in their emails.
