Poland on Tuesday hailed progress in resolving a historical dispute with Ukraine and said Warsaw would work to speed its neighbour's progress towards the European Union in talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy which also covered arms supplies.

Poland will seek to accelerate talks on Ukraine’s membership in the European Union during its current six-month rotating presidency in the bloc, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Wednesday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy was visiting Warsaw on Wednesday, following what Poland has called a breakthrough in a historical dispute about wartime exhumations that has stood between the allies.

Poland’s presidency of the European Union will break the deadlock on Ukraine’s integration that emerged in the last several months, says Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a briefing with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
