Avalanche danger remains high in Colorado, thanks to several rounds of heavy snow that moved through the area in February. Three snowmobilers were partially buried by debris when they were caught in an avalanche north of Granby on Saturday.

A man was killed in an avalanche in Colorado on February 22, 2025. Nathan Ginn was 50 years old. He was caught in a slide in a zone known as “The Fingers” just east of Berthoud Pass on Mines Peak. His death marks the third life taken by avalanches in Colorado thus far this year.

A snowmobiler in Colorado survived an avalanche near Steamboat Springs on Feb. 20 and shared a video of him describing how he was stuck in the snow for about 30 minutes before being rescued.
